President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's move to fight corruption
\noffers hope for tougher action against graft practices. He has
\nstarted with the formation of a coordinating team for corruption
\neradication.<\/p>\n
The step has received a mixed reaction from the community, but
\nat least it reflects the government's strong commitment. So we
\nshould not be overly skeptical or pessimistic because this
\nmeasure has a positive aim.<\/p>\n
The team is meant as a response to the weak system of law
\nenforcement and is designed to help overcome constraints in
\ndealing with cases of corruption, which have caused slow progress
\nin some antigraft areas.<\/p>\n
Comprising personnel of the police, the prosecutor's office
\nand the Financial and Development Control Agency, the team will
\nfacilitate better coordination between law enforcement
\ninstitutions and officials.<\/p>\n
Therefore, this team will be of assistance to the President in
\nresolving the constraints that restrict this endeavor, because
\ncorruption eradication drive will be different when the President
\nhimself is directly in control.<\/p>\n
