        "content": "<p>The use of state budget for President Prabowo Subianto\u2019s Qurbani\nanimals has recently attracted scrutiny. In response, Deputy Chairman of\nDPR Commission XIII Sugiat Santoso stated that this practice is not new\nin Indonesia\u2019s government.<\/p>\n<p>Sugiat explained that using state funds for social and community\nactivities is a routine procedure for a head of state. \u201cThis is normal\nin state affairs. The President, as head of state, indeed has a budget\nallocated to assist the public,\u201d he said in Jakarta on Wednesday\n(27\/6).<\/p>\n<p>He added that the President\u2019s Qurbani distribution has been\nconsistently implemented since previous administrations, not limited to\nPresident Prabowo\u2019s term. The initiative significantly benefits\nthousands of citizens during Iduladha celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond religious social activities, Sugiat emphasised that the\nPresident\u2019s budget allocation has long been directed towards vital\npublic sectors. \u201cIt\u2019s not just Qurbani. Presidential aid also supports\neducation, healthcare, and public facilities. So, don\u2019t view this as\nsomething new,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>For the 1447 Hijriah Iduladha celebrations, President Prabowo\ndistributed 1,098 premium local cattle weighing between 800kg and 1.3\ntonnes. The cattle were distributed to 552 regions and Islamic boarding\nschools (pesantren), including 10 cattle weighing over 800kg for Papua\nsourced from local breeders. Breeds included Simmental, Limousin, Ongole\ncrossbreeds, Brahmana, Angus, Bali cattle, Friesian Holstein, Belgian\nBlue, and Charolais, according to Deputy Minister of State Secretariat\nJuri Ardiantoro.<\/p>\n<p>Funding for the Qurbani cattle came from the President\u2019s social\nassistance budget under the state budget (APBN), totalling Rp100\nbillion. Prices were determined flexibly based on weight and\ndistribution locations across Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) confirmed that the President\u2019s\npurchase of sacrificial animals using state funds is legally permissible\nunder Islamic law.<\/p>",
