        "content": "<p>President to meet East Java leaders<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: President Megawati Soekarnoputri will visit the East<br>\nJava capital of Surabaya next month to hold talks with some 1,000<br>\ncommunity leaders in the province.<\/p>\n<p>One community leader, Achmad Zaini, said after a meeting with<br>\nthe President at her office on Monday that the talks would focus<br>\non the current situation in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\"The event is not meant to gather political support for the<br>\nPresident, but merely a discussion between a leader and her<br>\npeople,\" Achmad said, dismissing allegations that Megawati would<br>\npursue her political interests during the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The province is a stronghold of the National Awakening Party<br>\n(PKB), whose chief patron Abdurrahman Wahid was impeached and<br>\nreplaced as president by Megawati in 2001.<\/p>\n<p>Achmad said the meeting would be held in the compound of the<br>\nHeroes Monument.
