President to make another trip abroad<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Less than two weeks after his last overseas
\ntrip, President Abdurrahman Wahid will embark on yet another trip
\non Tuesday, which will take him to Malaysia, South Korea and
\nSingapore.<\/p>\n
Head of State Protocol Rahmat Ranudiwijaya told a news
\nbriefing over the weekend that Abdurrahman was scheduled to leave
\nfor Langkawi on Tuesday morning to meet with Malaysian Prime
\nMinister Mahathir Mohamad.<\/p>\n
Rahmat said that the scheduled talks in Langkawi were based on
\nan agreement made between the two heads of government during
\nMahathir's visit to Jakarta earlier this year.<\/p>\n
Abdurrahman will then travel to Seoul on Wednesday to attend
\nthe two-day ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Summit which begins on
\nFriday.<\/p>\n
The summit will bring 25 heads of government from Europe and
\nAsia together, as well as European Union President Romano Prodi.<\/p>\n
Abdurrahman is scheduled to hold talks with at least eight
\nheads of state, including British Prime Minister Tony Blair and
\nChinese Prime Minister Zhu Rongji, during his stay in Seoul,
\nRahmat said.<\/p>\n
The President is scheduled to arrive home on Oct. 21 after one
\nrefueling stop in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n
On his flight back to Jakarta on Saturday evening, Abdurrahman
\nis scheduled to meet with Singapore Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew
\nduring a brief stop in the city state.<\/p>\n
Abdurrahman, who has visited some 35 countries since taking
\noffice in October last year, has been criticized for putting
\nglobal issues ahead of unsolved domestic problems. (byg)<\/p>",
