President Prabowo Subianto has instructed all relevant ministries and\ninstitutions to assist the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) in\noverhauling the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG)\nprogramme. The reform efforts will be coordinated by the Coordinating\nMinister for Food.<\/p>\n
This directive was conveyed by BGN Deputy Head Agustina Arumsari\nfollowing a limited meeting with President Prabowo at the Presidential\nPalace in Jakarta on Wednesday (15\/7\/2026). The instruction became a key\npoint of the meeting, acknowledging that the MBG programme is not an\neasy undertaking as it involves millions of beneficiaries.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe most important point from the meeting was that the President\nassigned all relevant ministers to help the BGN leadership carry out the\noverhaul. That is his direct order. So, the Coordinating Minister for\nFood will coordinate with the Ministry of Finance, the BPKP, and\nothers,\u201d Agustina stated.<\/p>\n
President Prabowo also requested a careful review of the programme\u2019s\nimplementation across various regions. One specific area of focus is the\ncost per meal portion in the frontier, outermost, and least developed\n(3T) regions, particularly in eastern Indonesia. \u201cHe asked us to study\nwhether the cost in the 3T regions in the east should be the same as the\n15,000 rupiah in Java. He wants it to be studied,\u201d Agustina\nexplained.<\/p>\n
According to Agustina, the President does not want the reforms to be\nrushed. He has asked that all policies be taken fairly and based on\nmature studies. \u201cThe President truly wants the overhaul not to be done\nhastily, but to be truly fair. I noted that down carefully because for\nus, this is a good thing,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Agustina also appealed to the public, including parties awaiting the\nestablishment of Nutritional Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), to be\npatient during the reform process. She noted that the BGN needs time to\ncorrect both beneficiary data and SPPG data. \u201cWe ask to be given time,\nbecause the President also really emphasised that he knows it is not\neasy to make a decision that will be good for millions of people,\u201d she\nremarked.<\/p>\n
Agustina stressed that all ranks must prioritise the reform work. She\ntherefore asked for understanding if not all messages from the public\ncan be responded to immediately. \u201cSo please understand if, for example,\na WhatsApp message goes unanswered; it is because if we keep answering,\nwhen will we work?
