        "content": "<p>Preschools reopen after HMFD outbreak<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Preschools closed last week due to hand, foot and<br>\nmouth disease (HFMD) reopened on Monday, with teachers and school<br>\nstaff examining students for symptoms of the sickness.<\/p>\n<p>The Kinderland preschool in North Jakarta, which was closed on<br>\nSept. 26 after seven affected children were discovered, had<br>\nfumigated and sterilized the school building and its immediate<br>\nsurroundings over the course of five days and commenced<br>\nactivities on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\"Before the children entered classes this morning, we checked<br>\ntheir bodies for rashes and took their body temperature,\" said<br>\nSapta, a staff member at Kinderland.<\/p>\n<p>The Pembangunan Jaya preschool in Bintaro, Tangerang, resumed<br>\nactivities on Friday, after closing for three days.<\/p>\n<p>Two students were infected with HFMD virus at the Harapan Ibu<br>\npreschool in Kebayoran Lama area, South Jakarta, and caused the<br>\nschool to temporarily halt activities for a week.<\/p>\n<p>According to the data of the city health agency, there were 58<br>\ncases of HFMD reported from August through September, while five<br>\nchildren were admitted to the emergency unit. -- JP<\/p>",
