        "content": "<p>'Preman' pledge to turn over new leaf<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): More than 1,000 former street hoodlums, known<br>\nlocally as preman, have taken an oath that they will turn over a<br>\nnew leaf and help the government fight against crime.<\/p>\n<p>The oath was read by Udin Balok before Minister for Youth<br>\nAffairs and Sports Hayono Isman in a ceremony at the Aneka Krida<br>\nSports Hall on Wednesday, Antara reported.<\/p>\n<p>Udin once served a four-year jail term at the Cipinang<br>\nCorrectional Institute here.<\/p>\n<p>Following the reading, Udin handed over a letter, pledging a<br>\nmore orderly life, to the minister.<\/p>\n<p>Before taking the oath, two other ex-convicts, Moch.
