The government faces a policy dilemma with no truly comfortable\noptions.<\/p>\n
The preliminary hearing for the Secretary General of the Indonesian\nHouse of Representatives (DPR RI), Indra Iskandar, was held again at the\nSouth Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (8\/4), with the agenda of\nhearing testimony from the applicant\u2019s expert witness.<\/p>\n
The hearing was presided over by sole judge Sulistyanto Rokhmad\nBudiarto. Indra Iskandar did not attend in person and was represented\nonly by his legal team.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, the applicant presented one expert, Mahrus Ali, a\nlecturer and criminal law expert from Universitas Wahid Hasyim in\nSemarang.<\/p>\n
The expert\u2019s testimony was provided to strengthen the arguments in\nthe preliminary hearing application submitted by the applicant.\nMeanwhile, the respondent, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK),\ndid not present an expert at today\u2019s hearing.<\/p>\n
The agenda for the KPK\u2019s expert testimony is scheduled for the next\nhearing on Thursday (9\/4). During the proceedings, the judge confirmed\nthe KPK\u2019s readiness regarding the number and schedule of their\nexperts.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow many witnesses will the respondent present tomorrow?\u201d said Judge\nSulistyo in the courtroom.<\/p>\n
\u201cTwo experts, Your Honour,\u201d replied the KPK representative.<\/p>\n
The judge then inquired about the time for the next hearing.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt what time is the respondent available?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAt one o\u2019clock,\u201d said the KPK representative.<\/p>\n
It is known that Indra Iskandar filed a preliminary hearing\napplication under case number 31\/Pid.Pra\/2026\/PN JKT.SEL to challenge\nhis suspect status as determined by the KPK.<\/p>\n
In his application, Indra requests that his designation as a suspect\nbe declared invalid and null and void by law.<\/p>\n
In addition, in his petition, he also requests that the court order\nthe cessation of the investigation, the revocation of the travel ban\nabroad, and the return of his passport.<\/p>\n
Indra also challenges the legality of the search and seizure actions\ncarried out by the KPK, and requests that all such actions be declared\ninvalid.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, he requests the restoration of his good name, honour,\nand dignity as before he was designated as a suspect.<\/p>\n
This case relates to alleged corruption in the procurement of office\nequipment for DPR RI members in the 2020 fiscal year.<\/p>\n
In this case, the KPK has designated seven individuals as suspects,\nincluding Indra Iskandar. However, to date, the suspects have not been\ndetained because the process of calculating state losses is still\nongoing.<\/p>\n
The KPK itself states that the suspect determination process was\ncarried out in accordance with applicable legal provisions and is\nsupported by sufficient evidence.<\/p>\n
So far, the KPK has not provided further details on who the other\nparties designated as suspects in the case are and their roles.<\/p>\n
The preliminary hearing for DPR Secretary General Indra Iskandar is\nproceeding. The KPK asserts that the suspect designation is valid, the\nevidence is complete, and the investigation process has been flawless\nfrom the start of the case.<\/p>\n
Indra is a suspect in this case. On the other hand, the former DPR\nSecretary General is filing a preliminary hearing.<\/p>\n
The KPK is busy calculating the total state losses. Several witnesses\nexamined in recent days have also been questioned by auditors.<\/p>\n
To date, Indra has not been detained. The handling of his case is\nsaid to be stalled because the state loss calculation has not yet been\ncompleted.<\/p>\n
