State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi has claimed that President\nPrabowo Subianto enjoys a good relationship with United States President\nDonald Trump. Prasetyo expressed this confidence ahead of the two\nleaders\u2019 meeting in the United States this week.<\/p>\n
Prabowo is currently in the United States, where the head of state\nwill attend the inaugural Summit of the Board of Peace, an initiative\nspearheaded by Trump. In addition, Prabowo and Trump are set to sign a\ntrade tariff agreement between Indonesia and the United States.<\/p>\n
Prasetyo expressed hope that the good relations between the two heads\nof state would facilitate the agenda in the United States, particularly\nregarding the tariff agreement. The import tariff rate for Indonesian\ngoods entering the United States that is expected to be signed stands at\napproximately 19 per cent, Prasetyo said.<\/p>\n
However, according to Prasetyo, the rapport between Prabowo and Trump\ncould result in a lower tariff rate being agreed upon by the US for\nIndonesia. \u201cPerhaps through the communication process, it is not\nimpossible that, given the good relationship between the two leaders,\nthere may be a change in policy \u2014 we do not know,\u201d Prasetyo said at the\nHouse of Representatives building in Jakarta on Wednesday, 18 February\n2026.<\/p>\n
Prasetyo expressed hope that Prabowo\u2019s meeting with Trump would bring\nbenefits to the Indonesian nation. \u201cWe all hope that perhaps during the\nmeeting between President Prabowo and President Trump, there may be\nchanges that would benefit our nation and country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Prabowo and Trump are scheduled to sign the trade import tariff\nagreement on Thursday, 19 February 2026. On the same day, the Board of\nPeace will also hold its first summit in Washington D.C.<\/p>\n
Prabowo and the presidential entourage landed at Andrews Military\nBase in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, at 11.55 local\ntime, or 23.55 Western Indonesian Time.<\/p>\n
