Jakarta \u2013 Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has stated that the\nnew Transjabodetabek route from Blok M to Soekarno Hatta Airport\n(Soetta) will help reduce congestion around the airport area.<\/p>\n
\u201cApproximately 70 to 80 per cent of people travelling to Soekarno\nHatta Airport use private vehicles,\u201d Pramono said at the Blok M bus\nterminal in South Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Based on data from the Ministry of Transportation and field reports,\napproximately 54.9 million people visit Soekarno Hatta Airport\nannually.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe figure is significant. So if 70 to 80 per cent of 54.9 million\nuse private transport, it certainly has the potential to increase\ncongestion on the roads,\u201d Pramono said.<\/p>\n
The Transjabodetabek Blok M to Soekarno Hatta Airport route is\ntherefore expected to serve as a solution to traffic congestion and\nbenefit the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust like when we targeted 2,000 passengers for the Transjabodetabek\nBlok M to Bogor route, on holidays it now carries more than 8,500\npassengers. The average is already above 7,000. So the benefits of\nTransjabodetabek for Jakarta residents and surrounding areas are indeed\nquite high,\u201d Pramono explained.<\/p>\n
On this occasion, he noted that the buses on the Transjabodetabek\nBlok M to Soekarno Hatta route feature dedicated space for luggage and\nsuitcases.<\/p>\n
\u201cInside the bus there is space to store suitcases. Although of course\nwhen people travel they have many suitcases, not all luggage will be\nable to get dedicated space, so some suitcases will inevitably be kept\nwith passengers.
