Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has revealed that the waste sorting\nmovement in Jakarta has now reached 23.14%. The movement has been\nimplemented down to the RT\/RW (neighbourhood and community unit)\nlevel.<\/p>\n
Pramono made the statement while attending the launch of social\nprotection for Indonesia\u2019s informal waste sector at the RDF Rorotan\nfacility in North Jakarta on Monday (10\/8\/2026). He said the Jakarta\nProvincial Government continues to encourage changes in waste handling\npatterns.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe waste sorting movement in Jakarta, which initially people may\nhave been pessimistic about, has now become a movement that reaches down\nto the RT\/RW level,\u201d said Pramono.<\/p>\n
He said he regularly requests progress reports on waste handling,\nincluding the waste sorting movement in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd because this has become a movement, I am sure that everywhere it\nis now resonating. As of early August, waste sorting in Jakarta has\nreached 23.14%,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
Pramono explained that changes in waste management patterns are also\nbeing implemented at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Treatment\nFacility (TPST). Starting from 1 August 2026, Bantargebang will\ngradually only accept residual waste.<\/p>\n
\u201cStarting from 1 August, Bantargebang will only accept residual waste\nin stages,\u201d said Pramono.<\/p>\n
He said the policy is part of the change in Jakarta\u2019s waste\nmanagement pattern from the previous \u2018collect and dump\u2019 approach to\n\u2018sort, collect and process\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cPreviously it was collect and dump, buried at Bantargebang; now it\nhas become sort, collect and process,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Pramono is targeting 100% waste management in Jakarta by 2028. In\nthis way, waste disposal to Bantargebang can be reduced and directed\ntowards a zero-dumping concept.<\/p>\n
Currently, the increase in the waste sorting movement is also\naccompanied by the addition of waste management facilities. There are\nnow 2,247 waste bank units across various areas of Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\u201cWaste banks have also increased to 2,247 units in various areas\nacross Jakarta,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
In addition, the Jakarta Provincial Government has 31 TPS 3R (reduce,\nreuse, recycle waste processing sites) that now also produce alternative\nfuel in the form of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF). According to Pramono, RDF\nproduction from these TPS 3R facilities ranges from 100 to 150 tonnes\nper day.<\/p>\n
