Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is actively pushing to host a BTS concert in the city on 26-27 December 2026, deliberating between Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) and Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) as venues. He highlighted the challenges of transportation and parking for large events at JIS, announcing plans to connect it with Ancol for additional parking capacity of up to 10,000 vehicles and improved rail access to mitigate traffic congestion. These enhancements, targeted for completion by June 2026, aim to position Jakarta as a capable host for major international concerts without severe disruptions.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that he is still advocating for
the South Korean music group BTS to hold a concert in Jakarta. BTS is
reported to stage a concert in Jakarta on 26-27 December 2026. Pramono
admitted he is still considering the best location between Gelora Bung
Karno (GBK) or Jakarta International Stadium (JIS). “What I haven’t
succeeded in yet is that I really want BTS to perform there. We’re still
fighting over whether it will be at JIS or GBK,” Pramono said during the
Musrenbang RKPD 2027 at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday (16/4/2026).
Nevertheless, Pramono noted that if the concert is decided for JIS, it
would present a new challenge for the local government to ensure all
facilities are ready for use. Pramono also acknowledged that the main
challenges in organising large events like international concerts are
transportation access and parking availability. “Yes, even though both
are in Jakarta, I really want JIS to face the challenge of what if BTS
performs there,” he said. “Alhamdulillah, there will be a KRL going
there, we have connected JIS with Ancol, parking will no longer be at
JIS, but at Ancol,” Pramono explained. In addition, the government is
preparing additional parking land in the Ancol area, claimed to
accommodate up to 10,000 cars. This scheme is expected to reduce
congestion around the stadium during major events. “Even 10,000 cars are
fine, and it won’t cause congestion so people can enjoy watching
Persija, Bruno Mars, Adam Levine, Guns N’ Roses who are about to perform
soon, Metallica,” he said. The target is for these facilities to be
usable by June 2026. Pramono hopes that with these transportation and
supporting facility improvements, Jakarta can be better prepared to host
major world concerts without causing severe traffic jams.
",
