Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has instructed authorities to reduce waste processing volumes at the RDF Rorotan facility in North Jakarta if pollution levels exceed acceptable thresholds following resident complaints about deteriorating air quality. The facility is currently operating at reduced capacity between 700–800 tonnes per day instead of the target of 1,000 tonnes daily, with the provincial government continuously monitoring air quality while improving logistics systems to achieve safe full-capacity operations.

Governor of Jakarta Pramono Aung has responded to resident complaints
regarding deteriorating air quality in the area surrounding the Refuse
Derived Fuel (RDF) waste processing facility at Rorotan in North
Jakarta.

Pramono has instructed his administration to immediately reduce the
volume of waste processing if pollution impacts exceed the reasonable
thresholds being targeted.

“As soon as the threshold is exceeded, I request that it be reduced,”
said Pramono in the Serdang area of Central Jakarta’s Kemayoran district
on Monday, 16 March.

He emphasised that operations of the facility must not compromise the
comfort of residents in the surrounding area, with public acceptance and
health remaining the primary yardstick.

“Because for me, what matters most is that the public can accept it,”
said Pramono.

To ensure the environment remains safe, the Jakarta Provincial
Government continues to monitor air quality in the RDF Rorotan area on
an ongoing basis.

The waste processing volume at RDF Rorotan is therefore deliberately
being maintained below the maximum target to preserve air stability
whilst improving the existing logistics system.

As transport management improves, Pramono hopes the facility will
eventually achieve its production target safely without triggering
pollution.

“And relatively it is currently holding steady at figures between
700, 800 tonnes and so on. One of the issues is indeed transportation,
and transportation is now being handled better,” explained Pramono.

“Hopefully Rorotan will soon be able to operate normally with the
capacity that is now targeted at 1,000 tonnes per day,” he added.
",
