        "content": "<p>Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is confident that the construction of\nthe Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck, popularly dubbed the \u2018doughnut ring\u2019,\nwill help alleviate congestion in the Jalan Jenderal Sudirman area and\nits surroundings. The infrastructure, targeted for completion by 2028,\nwill connect six transport modes within a single integrated zone.\nPramono stated that congestion in the Dukuh Atas area has been partly\ntriggered by passengers boarding and alighting vehicles at the roadside\nto switch transport modes. According to him, the pedestrian deck will\nenable intermodal transfers via elevated walkways, thus no longer\ndisrupting the traffic flow below. \u201cIt can be guaranteed that it will\nreduce congestion. Because almost every afternoon, or during drizzle or\nrain every morning, many people get off at the roadside and this\ndisrupts the traffic here,\u201d Pramono said during the groundbreaking\nceremony for the Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck in Central Jakarta on Sunday\n(21\/6). He assessed that once the infrastructure is operational, the\npublic will prefer using the walkways directly connected to various\ntransport modes rather than switching via the main road. \u201cIf this\npedestrian deck is available, people will no longer go down to the\nstreet level; they will certainly use the elevated walkway. Those\nheading to the MRT, Airport Train, or LRT will definitely find it easier\nbecause everything is connected above. Therefore, I am confident it will\nreduce congestion here,\u201d he stated. The Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck will\nform part of the transit-oriented development (TOD) in central Jakarta.\nPramono explained that the facility will eventually link six transport\nmodes: the Jakarta MRT, Jakarta LRT, Jabodebek LRT, KRL Commuter Line,\nAirport Train, and TransJakarta. \u201cThus, Dukuh Atas will have the MRT,\nLRT operated by both the Jakarta Provincial Government and the central\ngovernment, then the Airport Train, TransJakarta, and KCI (KRL). So\nthere are six modes,\u201d Pramono said. According to him, the integration of\nthese six modes will create a seamless mobility concept, allowing the\npublic to switch transport without having to exit onto the main road or\nbe exposed to the weather. Beyond serving as a transport hub, Pramono\nalso revealed that the area has the potential to be equipped with\nsupporting facilities such as a city check-in area and immigration\nservices for airport train users. The Jakarta Provincial Government also\nplans to launch a competition to determine the official name for the\npedestrian deck, which is currently better known as the \u2018doughnut ring\u2019\ndue to its circular shape. Regarding funding, PT MRT Jakarta President\nDirector Tuhiyat stated that the project\u2019s construction is entirely\nfinanced by MRT Jakarta. However, the investment value of the project\nhas not yet been announced. \u201cFunding for this project\u2019s construction is\nentirely from MRT Jakarta. We will announce the value later,\u201d Tuhiyat\nsaid on the same occasion. Pramono added that the financing comes from\nMRT Jakarta, a regionally owned enterprise (BUMD) belonging to the\nJakarta Provincial Government. Thus, the source of funds ultimately\noriginates from the regional company, the majority of whose shares are\nowned by the Jakarta Provincial Government, including through regional\ncapital injections provided to MRT Jakarta. Initially, Pramono hoped the\nproject could be completed in time for Jakarta\u2019s 500th anniversary\ncelebrations in June 2027. However, after considering the construction\nprocess, the completion target is expected to be pushed back to 2028.\nThe construction of the pedestrian deck was inspired by a similar\nconcept in Japan, which previously served as a reference in the\nproject\u2019s initial study. \u201cBut the main point is that hopefully the shape\nwill be very visible later,\u201d Pramono said.<\/p>",
