Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has broken ground on the\nrevitalisation of Semanggi Park in South Jakarta, expressing his\nambition for the park to become a new icon for the capital.<\/p>\n
\u201cStarting today, and God willing by 22 June 2027, Jakarta will have a\nnew and improved showcase. Its name is Semanggi,\u201d Pramono said in his\nremarks at the site on Friday (20\/2\/2026).<\/p>\n
Pramono explained that Semanggi was originally conceived by\nIndonesia\u2019s first President Sukarno in 1962. He noted that the four\nleaves of the clover represent the functions of connectivity,\ntransformation, aesthetics, and life.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow, the DKI Jakarta government wants this place to truly become an\niconic venue, a place that everyone can make good use of. And as the\nHead of the Parks Agency mentioned earlier, this place will represent a\nregeneration of Bung Karno\u2019s ideas from that era which remain\ncontextually relevant today,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Pramono added that another of Sukarno\u2019s concepts was reconnection \u2014\nmaking the location interconnected. Semanggi Park\u2019s site spans six\nhectares of connected space.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd lastly, it will become a reactivation \u2014 activated for anyone,\nregardless of what group they belong to, to make use of this place. But\nmost importantly, I have emphasised that this must not disrupt existing\ntraffic flow. After all, this is a main transport artery in Jakarta,\nJakarta\u2019s principal showcase,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The construction of Semanggi Park carries a substantial budget of\napproximately Rp 134 billion. \u201cThe construction of this site requires\napproximately Rp 134 billion. And that is entirely not from the regional\nbudget. What follows is what our partner \u2014 our associate, in this case\nPak Nyoman \u2014 will derive as benefits,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
