Jakarta (ANTARA) \u2013 Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo said Pasar\nBaru would be transformed into a 24-hour culinary tourism district once\nconstruction of the Monas\u2013Harmoni MRT extension was complete.<\/p>\n
Pramono, as he is commonly known, said Pasar Baru would also become a\nnew hub alongside Blok M and Kelapa Gading.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are waiting for the MRT to be completed. Once the MRT reaches\nMonas\u2013Harmoni, we will prepare Pasar Baru as a new hub and a 24-hour\nculinary tourism destination, which I describe as being like Myeongdong\nin Korea,\u201d Pramono said in South Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n
He said Pasar Baru would be revamped to make it an attractive place\nfor residents and tourists.<\/p>\n
Pramono said the Glodok area would be given a Chinese theme, while\nKota Tua would be designed in a European style.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are several places near Pasar Baru that will have their own\nthemes. First, Glodok Chinatown will certainly have its own distinctive\ncharacter. And finally, Kota Tua will also have its own distinctive\ncharacter,\u201d Pramono said.<\/p>\n
He said the themed destinations were intended to show that Jakarta\nhad more to offer than Blok M.<\/p>\n
He also hoped the areas would draw large numbers of visitors, like\nBlok M.<\/p>\n
