Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has expressed relief that the work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) is set for Fridays, avoiding conflict with the provincial mandate for public transport use on Wednesdays. He affirmed the Jakarta Provincial Government's commitment to follow the central government's decision, planning a meeting to detail implementation, including a ban on private vehicle use during WFH days. Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto explained the Friday choice due to lighter workloads and alignment with post-pandemic digital work practices in ministries, while ensuring public services remain unaffected.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has admitted
to feeling grateful that the work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil
servants (ASN) is implemented on Fridays, rather than Wednesdays. In
this way, he said, the regulation will not conflict with Governor’s
Instruction number 6 of 2025, which mandates ASN to use public
transportation every Wednesday. “Of course, I’m grateful it’s not on
Wednesday. Because if it were Wednesday, it would cause complications
for Jakarta as well, since it’s public transport day,” Pramono explained
in Central Jakarta on Wednesday. The man, familiarly known as Pram, also
reaffirmed the Jakarta Provincial Government’s (Pemprov DKI) commitment
to follow up on the central government’s decision regarding the policy.
However, he will first hold a meeting with his subordinates to discuss
the detailed implementation of the policy within the Pemprov DKI scope,
one of which involves regulations on private vehicle use during WFH.
“Since this is already a government decision, the DKI Jakarta government
will certainly follow it, and we will set boundaries, including
prohibiting the use of private vehicles during work from home,” Pramono
stated. Previously, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga
Hartarto revealed the reason for choosing Friday as the work-from-home
day for ASN, namely because work activities tend to be relatively
lighter compared to other working days. According to him, the busyness
level on that day is not as high as on regular days, even in most
agencies, it only runs about half of the daily workload. In addition,
the selection of Friday as WFH day also follows the practice of several
ministries that have previously implemented a four-day workweek pattern
with digital system support, especially post-COVID-19 pandemic.
Nevertheless, Airlangga assured that the public services sector and
strategic sectors will continue to operate normally as usual.
",
