        "content": "<p>Jakarta, VIVA \u2013 President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo\nSubianto is targeting Indonesia\u2019s economic growth to reach 8 per cent.\nOne of his strategies is to create many job opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Various initiatives have been undertaken to create jobs, encompassing\nFree Nutritious Meals (MBG), Red and White Village Cooperatives, Red and\nWhite Fishermen\u2019s Villages, to the one million homes construction\nprogramme.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo highlighted the significant impact of the MBG programme on\nemployment absorption. He mentioned that at its peak, the programme will\nhave around 30,000 kitchens, each employing 50 people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s already 1.5 million,\u201d said Prabowo in an official statement,\nquoted on Sunday, 22 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Not only that, each kitchen will also involve supply chains from food\ningredient vendors, estimated to absorb an additional up to 1.5 million\nworkers.<\/p>\n<p>Besides MBG, the government is also relying on Red and White Village\nCooperatives as drivers of village economies. With a target of 80,000\ncooperatives, each employing around 18 people, this programme has the\npotential to create around 1.4 million new jobs.<\/p>\n<p>In the maritime sector, Red and White Fishermen\u2019s Villages are\nfocused on increasing productivity and the welfare of fishermen. The\ngovernment targets the construction of up to 1,100 fishermen\u2019s villages\nby 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re making a pilot project in Biak, where fishermen\u2019s incomes have\nrisen on average by 60 per cent to 80 per cent,\u201d said Prabowo.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo also emphasised that this programme not only increases income\nbut also drives regional economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the one million homes construction programme is said to be\none of the biggest engines of job creation.<\/p>\n<p>Each housing unit is estimated to involve five workers, so the total\ncould absorb up to 5 million workers, not including the ripple effects\nfrom supporting industries such as building materials and utilities.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo is optimistic that the combination of all these programmes\nwill become the national economic locomotive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m confident that when this runs, it will be more than 8 per cent,\u201d\nhe concluded.<\/p>",
