        "content": "<p>President Prabowo Subianto has stated that various modes of transport\nin Indonesia will in future switch to electric power, in line with\ngovernment efforts to build a green and renewable energy system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will build green energy, renewable energy. Never mind trains \u2014 in\ntime, nearly all of our vehicles will run on electricity: our trucks,\nour buses, our cars, our motorcycles,\u201d Prabowo said in his address at\nthe inauguration of the first-phase renovation of the culturally\nprotected Semarang Tawang Station building in Semarang, Central Java, on\nThursday, 30 July 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo said the development of electric-based transport forms part\nof the direction of national energy development, which prioritises green\nand renewable energy.<\/p>\n<p>On the same occasion, the President also affirmed that railways are\nan important element in supporting the tourism sector.<\/p>\n<p>He assessed that the revitalisation of hundreds of railway stations\ncarried out by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) could become a tourist\nattraction as well as part of national transformation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKAI\u2019s effort to revitalise hundreds of stations is very important;\ndo not regard it as trivial. It can become an attraction,\u201d the President\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo said the preservation of historic stations could draw\ndomestic and foreign tourists interested in historical and cultural\ntourism.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, station preservation is also part of efforts to\nsafeguard history whilst carrying out improvements across various\nfields.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPreserve all the stations \u2014 this is also part of preserving history.\nBut more importantly, it is part of our endeavour as a nation to carry\nout transformation in every field,\u201d Prabowo said.<\/p>\n<p>The President also asked that improvements to facilities in station\nareas be carried out with attention to cleanliness, tidiness and the\naesthetics of the surroundings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe change the impression. Indonesia must indeed be preserved, must\nbe beautiful, must be lush. There must be no litter strewn about, no\nbuildings left unkempt,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The President believes that improving transport infrastructure and\npreserving historic buildings can strengthen the appeal of tourism in\nvarious regions.<\/p>\n<p>Station revitalisation, the President said, is expected to help\nsupport national transformation through the development of better and\nwell-maintained public facilities.
