Jakarta - President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto,\nhas asked Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa to replace the\nleadership of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise if they are\ndeemed unable to work swiftly.<\/p>\n
In a DPR RI plenary meeting at the Nusantara Building, Parliament\nComplex, Jakarta, on Wednesday, Prabowo emphasised that the government\nmust root out corruption, abuse of power, and practices that hinder the\neconomy.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur Customs service must be improved. Finance Minister, if the\nleadership of Customs cannot act swiftly, they should be replaced,\u201d he\nsaid in front of more than 400 DPR RI members and several state\nofficials.<\/p>\n
He assessed that the government must work quickly and not be slow in\ndelivering public services and in bureaucratic reform.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must dare to reform all our institutions. We must continue to\nbuild a strong government that is not corrupt,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Prabowo cited that illicit levies continue to be a complaint among\nbusinesspeople and are seen as hindering the development of industry in\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cEntrepreneurs complain that they experience far too many\nextortionate practices,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The President also called for the DPR RI\u2019s support in the fight\nagainst corruption and abuse of power to strengthen governance and\nnational development.<\/p>\n
Therefore, President Prabowo urged all DPR members to actively engage\nwith the government in joint efforts to eradicate corruption and abuse\nof power.<\/p>\n
