View all search resultsIn a meeting with BP Batam, the President has\nemphasized that the free trade zone and tropical attraction should serve\nas a national model for downstream industrialization, investment\nacceleration, regulatory reform and logistics efficiency.<\/p>\n
resident Prabowo Subianto has placed the island of Batam at the\ncenter of the next phase of Indonesia\u2019s economic transformation,\npositioning the island as a future global maritime, logistics and\ninvestment hub.<\/p>\n
During a meeting with the Batam Development Authority (BP Batam) on\nJuly 7, the President emphasized that Batam should become a national\nmodel for downstream industrialization, investment acceleration,\nregulatory reform and logistics efficiency, supported by world class\ninfrastructure and faster public services.<\/p>\n
A key priority is the modernization of Batam\u2019s port system, including\nthe development of an international port integrated with industrial\nestates, advanced manufacturing, a hyperscale data center and global\nshipping networks. The strategy aims to strengthen Batam\u2019s role in\nregional supply chains by reducing logistics costs, improving export\ncompetitiveness and reinforcing its position as one of Southeast Asia\u2019s\nmost strategic production and distribution hubs.<\/p>\n
BP Batam highlighted that the region\u2019s investment ecosystem had\nstrengthened following the implementation of Government Regulation\nNo.\u00a025\/2025: Investment services have become faster and more\npredictable, while the digital Land Management System (LMS) is improving\ntransparency, accountability and ease of access for investors.<\/p>\n
Investment momentum has remained strong, with Batam recording Rp 69.3\ntrillion (US$4.2 billion) in realized investment in 2025, by Rp 17.48\ntrillion ($1.07 billion) in the first quarter of 2026, a year-on-year\nincrease of 102.85 percent. Investment continues to concentrate in\nhigh-value sectors including electronics and machinery, digital\ninfrastructure, energy and industrial estates.<\/p>\n
The meeting also reinforced Batam\u2019s pilot role in the country\u2019s\ninvestment reform agenda. By combining digital public services,\nrisk-based regulation, integrated infrastructure and interministerial\ncoordination, the government aims to transform Batam into a globally\ncompetitive gateway for manufacturing, maritime logistics and strategic\ninvestment.<\/p>\n
For international investors, the direction is clear: Batam is being\npositioned not only as Indonesia\u2019s premier free trade zone but also as\none of Asia\u2019s next major growth platforms.<\/p>\n
