President Prabowo Subianto conducted a tour of forest and land fire\n(karhutla) locations in Kalimantan and Sumatra. The tour was a step by\nPrabowo to check and ensure that the handling of the karhutla problem in\nthe field was running optimally.<\/p>\n
One of the inspection points was on Jalan A. Yani III, Limbung\nVillage, Sungai Raya District, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan.\nPrabowo arrived at the location on Saturday (22\/8\/2026) at around 13.20\nWIB.<\/p>\n
When getting out of the car, Prabowo, who was wearing a cream safari\nshirt and a dark blue cap, immediately headed to one of the karhutla\npoints. Prabowo appeared not to be wearing a mask during the\ninspection.<\/p>\n
Accompanying Prabowo in this inspection were, among others, Minister\nof State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary (Seskab)\nTeddy Indra Wijaya, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo,\nand TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto. They also appeared not to be\nwearing masks.<\/p>\n
Prabowo appeared to walk along the burned land. He saw up close the\ncondition of the affected area and the extinguishing process being\ncarried out by joint officers.<\/p>\n
In the middle of the inspection, Prabowo gave directions to the\nministers and related officials accompanying him. He emphasised the\nimportance of handling karhutla quickly and in a coordinated manner so\nthat the fire could be controlled immediately and not spread to other\nareas.<\/p>\n
Prabowo also approached and greeted the officers who were on duty\ncarrying out the extinguishing process. Not only interacting with\nofficers, Prabowo also greeted a number of residents who were around the\nlocation.<\/p>\n
By going directly to the fire location, Prabowo wanted to ensure that\nthe directions and strategies for handling karhutla could be implemented\neffectively in the field. The government also continued to deploy\nvarious efforts to accelerate extinguishing while preventing the spread\nof karhutla in Kalimantan.<\/p>\n
President Prabowo Subianto then continued his working visit to\nPalangka Raya, Central Kalimantan.<\/p>\n
Prabowo arrived at Tjilik Riwut Airport, Palangka Raya, Central\nKalimantan, at 15.25 WIB. He immediately held a limited meeting to\ncoordinate karhutla handling at the Forward Air Task Force Post.<\/p>\n
Present at the meeting were Mensesneg Prasetyo Hadi, Seskab Teddy\nIndra Wijaya, Deputy National Police Chief Commissioner General Dedi\nPrasetyo, Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Muhammad Herindra,\nMinister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian, and Army Chief of\nStaff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak. A number of local officials\nwere also seen attending the meeting.<\/p>\n

The tour continued to Pekanbaru, Riau, on Monday (24\/8\/2026). Based\non observations at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base, Pekanbaru, the plane\ncarrying Prabowo landed at around 11.00 WIB. Prabowo appeared to be\nwearing a cream safari shirt paired with a blue cap.<\/p>\n
Prabowo\u2019s arrival at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base was immediately\ngreeted by haze from the impact of karhutla. The haze appeared to\nblanket the air in the Riau region.<\/p>\n
Prabowo arrived accompanied by Mensesneg Prasetyo Hadi, Mendagri Tito\nKarnavian, Seskab Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Head of BIN Muhammad Herindra.\nAlso seen welcoming Prabowo\u2019s arrival were TNI Commander General Agus\nSubiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and KSAD\nGeneral TNI Maruli Simanjuntak.<\/p>\n

Prasetyo said this visit was a form of Prabowo\u2019s commitment to\nensuring the state is present and provides protection to communities\naffected by karhutla and haze.<\/p>\n
After Riau, Prabowo continued his working visit on karhutla handling\nto Palembang, South Sumatra.<\/p>\n
Prabowo arrived at Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport, Palembang, on\nMonday (24\/8\/2026), at around 13.30 WIB. Prabowo appeared to be wearing\na cream safari shirt and a blue cap.<\/p>\n
While in Pekanbaru, Prabowo conveyed that prevention measures should\nbe prioritised so that no new hotspots emerge.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, go directly there, immediately make an artesian well. Once\nthere is a hotspot, make a water borehole there. Do not wait for a fire\nspot to emerge,\u201d Prabowo stressed before his staff.<\/p>\n
To anticipate the emergence of karhutla hotspots, Prabowo encouraged\nprevention efforts as the top priority. He asked the central and\nregional governments to provide understanding to the public not to clear\nland by burning.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen, all apparatus must prevent any individuals or residents who\ndeliberately burn land for any reason. Provide explanations and\neducation to all elements in all villages. Explain that burning land is\nstrictly prohibited,\u201d said Prabowo.<\/p>\n
As further direction, Prabowo asked people who want to clear land to\nreport to the village government up to the district level. Prabowo\nensured that the apparatus would help the community in accordance with\nlegal and environmental provisions.<\/p>\n
