President Prabowo Subianto invited American business leaders to\ninvest in Indonesia, during the business summit at the US Chamber of\nCommerce in Washington DC on Wednesday, 18 February 2026 local time.<\/p>\n
Addressing entrepreneurs, Prabowo emphasised the importance of\nstrategic, mutually beneficial economic cooperation. \u201cI believe that\nwhat I learned from American entrepreneurs is: \u2018Let\u2019s make money\ntogether.\u2019 Win-win,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverybody makes profit,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Prabowo said his background as a businessman gave him the perspective\nto understand what investors need and how the business world works.\n\u201cBefore I went into politics, I was also in business. That\u2019s why I think\nI can understand the business community with more empathy,\u201d said\nPrabowo.<\/p>\n
The Gerindra Party boss also conveyed his commitment to creating a\nhealthy investment climate in Indonesia. \u201cI will testify how the\nIndonesian government and I always tried to protect our investors, be a\ngood host, and produce the best atmosphere for investors,\u201d said\nPrabowo.<\/p>\n
Indonesia, Prabowo claimed, is committed to maintaining the\ninvestment climate through regulatory certainty, law enforcement, and\ngood governance. For Prabowo, these factors are key in attracting\nforeign investment.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo one wants to invest in a situation or atmosphere filled with\nuncertainty, instability, or even chaos,\u201d said Prabowo.<\/p>\n
During the same occasion, he emphasised Indonesia\u2019s position as an\nattractive and competitive investment destination. He pointed out that\nthe country not only has abundant natural resources but also possesses\nstrategically important assets that make it a critical player in the\nglobal market.<\/p>\n
However, according to him, Indonesia\u2019s investment attractiveness does\nnot stop there. He said that Indonesia is currently driving the\nacceleration of industrialisation, opening up new investment\nopportunities in various sectors. \u201cWe need investment and we want more\ninvestment. We are competitive, attractive, and have abundant mineral\nreserves for new technologies,\u201d said Prabowo.<\/p>\n
Prabowo highlighted Indonesia\u2019s critical mineral reserves, including\nnickel, copper, and bauxite, which serve as essential raw materials for\ntechnology and high-value industries.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think we have strengths in critical minerals. I have also received\nreports that Indonesia ranks among the countries with the largest rare\nearth reserves in the world,\u201d he added, as quoted by the Prabowo Media\nTeam.<\/p>\n
On industrial development, Prabowo emphasised the government\u2019s push\nto strengthen domestic processing and add value through downstreaming\nnatural resources.<\/p>\n
He cited that the Danantara Investment Management Agency will\nspearhead 18 downstream projects this year, including a US$3 billion\n(Rp50.4 trillion) waste processing initiative.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe continue to move forward in industrial downstreaming, with\nDanantara as the main driving force.
