        "content": "<p>we will conduct research to support the ESDM ministerJakarta (ANTARA)\n-<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia\u2019s President Prabowo Subianto has asked universities to\ndevelop technologies and find alternatives in reducing the reliance on\nliquefied petroleum gas (LPG) amid rising import dependence and global\nprice pressures.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto\non Monday said the instruction was delivered during a cabinet brief led\nby President Subianto at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeveral alternatives to reduce LPG are being explored, but as in\neducational level, we are supporting the minister of Energy and Mineral\nResources (ESDM) on the technology side,\u201d Yuliarto said after the\nmeeting.<\/p>\n<p>It is a crucial attempt in reducing the consumption of LPG by\ndeveloping technology as well as finding alternatives, as Indonesia\nremains heavily dependent on imports.<\/p>\n<p>Related news: Indonesia eyes CNG to reduce reliance on LPG\nimports<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the global energy prices continues to rise due to\ngeopolitical tensions in the Middle East and disruptions around the\nStrait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLPG dependence on imports is very high and its prices are also\nincreasing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Yuliarto mentioned several potential alternative energy sources have\nbeen identified, though further details will be outlined by Minister of\nEnergy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia.<\/p>\n<p>Universities have been tasked with conducting research to support the\nESDM ministry\u2019s efforts in identifying and developing viable energy\nalternatives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCampuses were asked to explore other sources.
