The government faces policy dilemmas with no truly comfortable\noptions.<\/p>\n<p>President Prabowo Subianto has set a target to resolve the waste\nissue in all cities across Indonesia within the next two to three years.\nThe President emphasised that the key to solving this long-standing\nproblem lies in the use of efficient and affordable domestic\ntechnology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe now have technology, technology to clean up waste, made by us\nourselves, not too expensive,\u201d said President Prabowo during a briefing\nat the Government Working Meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta\non Wednesday (8\/4).<\/p>\n<p>The President is confident that by optimising the role of\nuniversities and local innovations, Indonesia no longer needs to rely on\nexpensive foreign technology to manage waste. This vision is expected to\ncreate a uniformly clean environment from Sabang to Merauke.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithin two to three years, we will resolve the waste issue across\nall of Indonesia. There will be no city, no road, no part of Indonesia\nthat smells of waste,\u201d stressed the President, who was immediately met\nwith enthusiastic applause from the meeting participants.<\/p>\n<p>This strategic meeting at the Palace was attended not only by\nministers and deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet but also by\nall echelon I officials from ministries and agencies as well as CEOs of\nstate-owned enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom RI), Angga Raka\nPrabowo, explained that the involvement of echelon I officials is\ncrucial so that the President\u2019s directives can be directly executed down\nto the technical level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr.\u00a0President feels it is important to convey directly to all\nechelon one because we are all one unit.
