Deputy Chairman of MUI and head of the Steering Committee for the\neighth Indonesian Muslim Congress (KUII VIII), KH Marsudi Syuhud, said\nthat President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to open KUII VIII on Friday\n(24\/7) afternoon.<\/p>\n
The five-yearly forum, initiated by MUI, will serve as a major\nconsolidation event for around 87 Islamic organisations across\nIndonesia. It will be held over three days, from 24 to 26 July 2026, at\nthe Bidakara Hotel in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe event will be opened by the President on 24 July at around 4pm\nWestern Indonesia Time,\u201d said Kiai Marsudi, quoted from MUI\u2019s official\nwebsite on Thursday (23\/7).<\/p>\n
Kiai Marsudi said that after the opening by Prabowo, the event would\ncontinue with a series of plenary sessions.<\/p>\n
The KUII is a mandate of the organisation to be held at least once\nevery five years.<\/p>\n
As the great house of Indonesian Muslims, MUI bears a moral and\norganisational responsibility to facilitate this grand deliberation.<\/p>\n
He stressed that KUII VIII is not merely a ceremonial gathering of\nprominent figures. The forum is designed as a space for critical and\nstrategic dialogue to contribute concrete ideas to the government.<\/p>\n
Besides Prabowo, he said the three-day series of plenary sessions\nwill feature a line-up of cabinet ministers, leaders of state\ninstitutions, law enforcement officials and academics from various\ndisciplines.<\/p>\n
\u201cNation-building is a necessity. So criticism is normal if, during\nthis congress later, there are inputs for the government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Kiai Marsudi expressed hope that the deliberations of KUII VIII would\nmake a concrete contribution to the nation\u2019s resilience in facing the\nchallenges of the times.<\/p>\n
