JAKARTA \u2014 President Prabowo Subianto has stated that the world is now\nin a dangerous condition following the outbreak of conflict in the\nMiddle East after the United States and Israel attacked Iran.<\/p>\n
He noted that major powers are currently clashing and have the\npotential to drag other nations into the conflict. He made these remarks\nwhilst officially inaugurating 218 bailey bridges, armco bridges, and\npioneer bridges throughout Indonesia via video conference on Monday, 9\nMarch 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cFellow citizens, we are in a world full of danger. Major powers are\nclashing and could drag other nations into difficult circumstances,\u201d\nPrabowo said.<\/p>\n
He was unwilling to downplay the situation, stating that the country\nwould not escape difficulty due to the Middle East conflict.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough we are geographically far from that location, our earth has\ntruly become small. What happens in one region will affect other\nregions,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Instead, he emphasised that all parties must be prepared to face\ndifficulties. However, he assured that the country has the strength to\novercome them.<\/p>\n
The head of state stated that he would brief all Indonesians in the\nnear future on how to harness that strength. One thing that needs to be\ncontrolled is combating corruption so that state wealth can be utilised\nfor the people\u2019s benefit, ensuring needs are met regardless of how\ndifficult times become.<\/p>\n
Corruption must be eradicated not only at the central government\nlevel but also at every tier.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must fight corruption at every level. Corruption, abuse of\nauthority, fraud, collusion with unscrupulous businesspeople\u2014these cause\nstate losses. These result in much of our wealth being lost. Wealth that\nwe could use to face any disaster,\u201d Prabowo explained.<\/p>\n
The former Defence Minister further expressed confidence that\nIndonesia would emerge and rise from the crisis in a state of\nprosperity.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will face difficulties, I will not hide that. But we have the\nstrength\u2014I believe we will emerge stronger. We will emerge from this\ncrisis in a stronger and more prosperous state, more productive, more\ncapable of standing on our own feet.
