President Prabowo Subianto has revealed that Indonesia now possesses\na Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) through the Daya Anagata Nusantara\nInvestment Management Agency (BPI Danantara). According to the\nPresident, Indonesia\u2019s SWF is currently the sixth largest in the world\nin terms of assets.<\/p>\n
Prabowo claimed that Danantara currently manages the total assets of\nState-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), which have reached US$1,000 billion. \u201cWe\nnow have a sovereign fund. Our sovereign wealth fund may now be the\nsixth largest in the world. The assets we manage now are US$1,000\nbillion,\u201d Prabowo stated during the inauguration of 1,062 Kopdes Merah\nPutih, as quoted from a Presidential Secretariat YouTube broadcast on\nSaturday (16\/05\/2026).<\/p>\n
He further noted that the total assets under management are among the\nbest in the world, despite Danantara being newly established in 2025,\nwhereas other SWFs were formed much earlier, such as Abu Dhabi in 1976\nand China in 1997. \u201cWe are even above Qatar, above Saudi Arabia, and\nalso above Singapore. So, our country is doing well,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
Prabowo expressed confidence that the work and development undertaken\nby Danantara will yield significant results over the next 10 to 20\nyears. \u201cWe already have Danantara, and in 10 years, 20 years from now\u2026\nmark the date, mark the year, brothers and sisters, you will see,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
For context, Danantara was officially inaugurated on 24 February\n2025. It was formed to serve as the primary engine for managing national\nwealth by consolidating all SOE assets into a single massive investment\nentity, with assets estimated to exceed US$900 billion or approximately\nIDR 15,000 trillion.<\/p>\n
Structurally, Danantara serves as a strategic entity receiving direct\nauthority from the President regarding the management of SOEs, including\ndividends, restructuring, the formation of investment and operational\nholdings, as well as the provision of loans and asset collateralisation,\nsubject to Presidential approval.<\/p>\n
Legislation stipulates that Danantara\u2019s initial capital must be at\nleast IDR 1,000 trillion, sourced from state capital participation,\nincluding cash, state-owned goods, and SOE shares. Meanwhile, initial\nfunding is projected to reach US$20 billion or approximately IDR 326\ntrillion.
