        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has warned that\ncountries or regions possessing an abundance of natural resources tend\nto frequently become targets of external interests, which can trigger\nconflict.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCountries or regions on earth that are endowed with such rich\nnatural resources often become targets,\u201d said Prabowo during a meeting\nwith members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin)\nat the State Palace, Jakarta, on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The President cited the ongoing instability in the Middle East, which\ncontinues to experience competition over reserves of gas, oil, and\nstrategic minerals, as an example. According to him, these global\nhistorical and geopolitical dynamics should serve as a vital lesson for\nIndonesia as a large nation rich in natural resources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is human law, it is the law of nature; wealth breeds envy. We\nhave always been a target for hundreds of years,\u201d Prabowo stated.<\/p>\n<p>History records that the Indonesian archipelago has been hunted by\nforeign nations since the 16th century in an attempt to control\nstrategic commodities such as spices and timber. At that time, spices\nwere required as food preservatives during long voyages, while timber\nwas utilised as the primary material for constructing maritime transport\nvessels.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that the implementation of \u2018divide et impera\u2019 (divide\nand rule) strategies by foreign parties is not merely a historical note,\nbut a threat that remains relevant today. To face these potential\nthreats, the President stressed the importance of unity and synergy\nbetween all elements of the nation amidst increasingly volatile global\nconditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll successful nations have elites that can work together.
