President Prabowo Subianto has highlighted groups in society unwilling to cooperate with the government while continuing to criticise it, emphasising that the administration remains focused on serving the people amid stable national conditions despite global tensions. PDIP's Andreas Hugo Pareira expressed puzzlement at Prabowo's concerns, noting the broad support he enjoys from political parties, bureaucracy, and state-owned enterprises, and urged him to view criticism as a catalyst for development rather than a threat. This exchange underscores ongoing political dynamics in Indonesia's democracy, where constructive opposition plays a vital role in national progress.

President Prabowo Subianto has alluded to groups unwilling to
cooperate. PDIP’s Deputy Chairman Andreas Hugo Pareira is puzzled that
Prabowo still feels a shortage of parties willing to collaborate.

“So far, Mr Prabowo has proudly been elected with more than 50% vote
support, backed by almost all political parties in the cabinet, with the
top echelon of the bureaucracy consolidated, and even commissioners in
various SOEs being Prabowo supporters. This means many people are
willing to cooperate, so what is lacking?” Andreas said when contacted
on Thursday (9/4/2026).

Andreas then alluded to parties that frequently criticise the
government. According to him, criticism is a common occurrence.

“If there is criticism, it is certainly very normal in a democratic
country. Why is Mr Prabowo worried if there is criticism? I think it is
very natural in the dynamics of nation-building,” he stated.

Andreas also hopes that Prabowo views criticism as a driver in
carrying out development. He assesses that Prabowo should be more
concerned with parties that like to praise and convey positive things
that do not match reality.

“It is better to use criticisms as triggers and accelerators for
development. As a person in power, in my opinion, Mr Prabowo should be
more worried about people who only praise and convey only good
information that does not match the real situation on the ground,” he
said.

Prabowo’s Statement

President Prabowo Subianto alluded to the phenomenon of groups
unwilling to cooperate with the government but still actively launching
criticisms. Prabowo emphasised that the government continues to run and
focuses on serving the people despite facing criticism.

In his direction, Prabowo admitted to having studied reports from his
subordinates showing that the current national condition is still
relatively safe and stable. Although the geopolitical situation in the
Middle East is heating up.

“I have studied the data and figures, and this is a good opportunity.
After studying the figures and receiving reports from my ministers, our
condition is quite safe,” Prabowo said while giving directions at the
Government Working Meeting at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta
on Wednesday (8/4).

Prabowo then alluded to the emergence of criticism from certain
groups towards his government. Prabowo admitted he has no issue if
certain groups do not want to cooperate with the government.

“Indeed, there is a phenomenon that we all feel, that there are
groups in society, our brothers and sisters too, the extended family of
the Unitary Republic of Indonesia, who have an attitude that can be said
to be very unwilling to cooperate. We respect it, we have no problem,”
he stated.
",
