        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has proposed that\nhousing assistance for low-income communities (MBR) be provided in the\nform of building materials as an alternative to cash assistance.<\/p>\n<p>At a plenary cabinet meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta on\nMonday, the President asked the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas\n(PKP) and the Ministry of Social Affairs to study the proposal to change\nthe disbursement mechanism of the Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance\n(BSPS) programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerhaps instead of giving money, we give materials. Give cement,\ngive roof tiles, give timber, or give lightweight steel and so on. So\nthat more people can receive it,\u201d said Prabowo.<\/p>\n<p>According to the President, distributing assistance in the form of\nbuilding materials could reduce the value of assistance per recipient,\nmeaning the number of people benefiting could be expanded.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo asked Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar\nSirait and Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf to study the\npossibility of increasing the number of beneficiaries by adjusting the\nvalue of the assistance.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the BSPS programme reaches around 400,000 beneficiaries,\nwith assistance valued at Rp20 million per house.<\/p>",
