President Prabowo Subianto has said the government will significantly\nincrease its budget allocation for disaster mitigation. This is deemed\nimportant given that Indonesia lies within the Pacific Ring of Fire,\nmaking it vulnerable to various natural disasters.<\/p>\n
\u201cA country located within the ring of fire means we must be prepared\nto face circumstances like this at any moment,\u201d Prabowo said during a\nlimited meeting on natural disaster management with regional heads, held\nvirtually on Monday (7\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is perhaps a lesson for us, and for the government I lead \u2014 the\nbudget allocation for disaster mitigation must be increased\nsignificantly,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
Prabowo assessed that his administration is more capable of handling\ndisasters compared to previous years. He cited the disaster response in\nseveral parts of Sumatra, namely Aceh, North Sumatra and West\nSumatra.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe we will be more capable in facing what lies ahead; even\nnow, compared to previous years, our response has been very swift. The\ndisaster situations in Sumatra \u2014 Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra \u2014\nshowed our response to be quite massive and quite rapid,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Prabowo went on to express his appreciation to all parties who worked\non disaster management in those regions. According to him, the\ngovernment succeeded in carrying out recovery efforts by relying on its\nown strength.<\/p>\n
