President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated the Kelapa\nGading-Manggarai LRT route alongside Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung.\nDuring the event, Prabowo conveyed several messages and offered praise\nto Pramono, despite them representing different political parties.<\/p>\n
Prabowo arrived at the Kelapa Gading LRT Station, North Jakarta, on\nWednesday (16\/09\/2026) at approximately 1:00 PM WIB. He was directly\nwelcomed by Governor Pramono Anung. During the LRT journey, Prabowo was\nseen listening to reports from Pramono and occasionally chatting with\nstudents on board.<\/p>\n
During the trip on the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai route, Pramono\nconveyed a specific directive from Prabowo requesting more vertical\ngardens in Jakarta. \u201cDuring the journey, there was an order from the\nPresident that we will follow up. Fortunately, almost all Regional\nApparatus Organisations (OPD) are present here. Greening Jakarta is our\nmain programme and we will follow up immediately, Mr President,\u201d said\nPramono in his remarks.<\/p>\n
Pramono stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government would act on\nthis instruction immediately. He also provided an update on Jakarta\u2019s\ncurrent economic performance, noting that economic growth this quarter\nreached 5.52% with an inflation rate of 2.5%. Jakarta is also reported\nto contribute 16.32% to the national economy.<\/p>\n
Pramono noted that such economic conditions must be accompanied by\nurban development that enhances comfort, including the strengthening of\npublic transport and urban greening as directed by Prabowo. \u201cAs we\napproach our 500th anniversary, we continue to strengthen Jakarta\u2019s\ntransformation towards a competitive global city,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Prabowo spoke regarding democracy in Indonesia, touching upon his\ndifferent political background from Governor Pramono Anung, yet noting\nthat they can still work together professionally. \u201cWe are witnessing an\nimportant step in the nation\u2019s development plan, the transformation of\nthe nation, as Greater Jakarta, Jabodetabek, has effectively become the\nlargest metropolitan area in the world with 42 million people,\u201d Prabowo\nsaid in his speech.<\/p>\n
Prabowo emphasised the need for awareness in placing the interests of\nthe people first when leading a large city. He used himself and Pramono\nAnung as an example of how different parties can still cooperate. \u201cThe\nbest example of Indonesian statehood: I, as the President of the\nRepublic of\u2019 Indonesia, lead the central government, and Mr Pramono\nAnung, as the Governor of Jakarta, leads the regional government. We\ncome from different parties, we compete, but we can cooperate,\u201d Prabowo\nremarked.<\/p>\n
According to Prabowo, he and Pramono can respect one another and\ncontinue to work together because they are aware that their positions\nare a mandate from the people. He asserted that public officials are\nservants of the people. \u201cWe can respect each other because we are aware,\nin our hearts, that we were chosen by the people. I am here as\nPresident, Mr Pramono Anung as Governor, and Mr Rano Karno as Vice\nGovernor; we are servants of the people, we are the people\u2019s officers,\u201d\nhe added.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Prabowo requested that all officials receiving a mandate\nfrom the people continue to make the people the priority of their\npolicies. He warned officials who are no longer capable of upholding\nsuch a mandate to step down.<\/p>\n
President Prabowo also praised Governor Pramono Anung for the\nachievement of establishing the new Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route,\nacknowledging Pramono\u2019s capability. Prabowo stated that he would\nrecognise any governor who achieves great results, regardless of their\nparty. It is noted that Prabowo is the Chairman of Gerindra, while\nPramono is a member of the PDI-P.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat is from me, I won\u2019t speak for too long. The point is,\ncongratulations, thank you, Governor. I must admit that if there is a\ngreat governor, I will acknowledge their greatness. The Vice Governor,\neven though\u2026 even though he is not from my party,\u201d said Prabowo, which\nwas met with laughter from the invited guests.<\/p>\n
Prabowo requested that this achievement should encourage other\nparties. He hoped that regional heads from other parties would take this\nas a good example and work correctly. \u201cBut this must encourage other\nparties, right? So, do the right work. Thank you,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
