        "content": "<p>Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has ordered an acceleration of\nmineral downstreaming and resource optimization to strengthen national\nenergy independence and increase state revenue, Energy and Mineral\nResources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Following a meeting at the president\u2019s residence in Hambalang, Bogor,\nWest Java, Lahadalia outlined plans for 13 new downstreaming projects\nwith a total investment of about Rp239 trillion, or roughly US$15\nbillion. The projects aim to reinforce the national economic structure\nthrough industrial processing.<\/p>\n<p>He said natural resources are strategic national assets and that the\npresident had instructed the ministry to identify new sources of mineral\nrevenue to ensure the state gains a fairer share of its resource\nwealth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe president has instructed me to prioritize national interests\nabove all else and to safeguard our natural resources as state assets,\u201d\nLahadalia said, referring to the government\u2019s stance on national\nsovereignty.<\/p>\n<p>The government is currently overseeing 20 initial downstreaming\nprojects. Several have already begun construction, while the rest are\nscheduled to start next month, signaling a shift toward industrial\nprocessing instead of exporting raw materials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are adding 13 downstreaming projects with a total investment of\naround Rp239 trillion, and we will finalize the details,\u201d Lahadalia\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond minerals, the government is also prioritizing energy\nself-sufficiency by optimizing domestic resources such as ethanol and\nbiodiesel derived from crude palm oil, while accelerating the transition\nto renewable energy.<\/p>\n<p>On market dynamics, Lahadalia said policies on coal and nickel remain\nunchanged.
