        "content": "<p>President Prabowo Subianto intends to renovate Gambir Railway Station\nin Central Jakarta. Prabowo has instructed Minister of Transportation\nDudy Purwagandhi and President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI)\nBobby Rasyidin to begin discussing the plan. Cabinet Secretary Teddy\nIndra Wijaya conveyed that Prabowo gave the instruction during a meeting\nwith Dudy and Bobby at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta last Thursday.\n\u201cGambir Station will be renovated into a more modern strategic transport\nnode,\u201d Teddy said in his statement, cited on Sunday, 14 June 2026.\nAccording to Teddy, the renovation of the station, located in the\nNational Monument (Monas) area, is targeted for completion within two\nyears. Gambir Station will be designed to have better intermodal\nintegration, including direct integration with KRL commuter line\nservices. Beyond the Gambir Station renovation, Prabowo also requested\nthe Ministry of Transportation and PT KAI to resolve safety issues at\nlevel crossings. \u201cThe safety of train journeys and road users is a\npriority,\u201d Teddy stated. Currently, 172 level crossings have been\nclosed, 490 are in the process of being addressed, and the remaining\n1,148 have begun to be fitted with crossing barriers. The Greater\nJakarta area (Jabodetabek) is the primary focus with the highest number\nof interventions. Teddy said President Prabowo\u2019s directive is part of\nthe government\u2019s effort to build a public transportation system that is\nincreasingly modern, connected, and meets high safety standards.\n\u201cThrough the development of strategic infrastructure and the\nacceleration of handling vulnerable points, the government is striving\nto deliver transportation services that are safer and more comfortable,\nas well as capable of supporting economic growth and public mobility in\nthe future,\u201d he stated. Furthermore, the Ministry of Transportation also\nreported on the progress of the national railway network development.\nAccording to Minister Dudy, there are currently around 6,927 kilometres\nof active railway lines across Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi, and Papua.
