        "content": "<p>President Prabowo Subianto has said that no foreign nation will feel\nsorry for Indonesia. He remarked that certain nations have even\npersistently sought to sow division and steal Indonesia\u2019s wealth.<\/p>\n<p>According to Prabowo, this has been the case for a long time. \u201cNo\nother nation feels sorry for us; from long ago they have even wanted to\ndivide us, divide et impera,\u201d he said in West Lombok, West Nusa\nTenggara, on Friday, 10 July 2026, as broadcast by the Presidential\nSecretariat.<\/p>\n<p>The chairman of the Gerindra Party said the Indonesian nation was\nonce insulted and regarded as lower than dogs during hundreds of years\nof colonisation. Indonesia\u2019s wealth, he said, was also continually\nexploited by foreign nations.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo said that to this day Indonesia is still looked down upon.\n\u201cThere are certain groups, certain nations that are envious of us,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The former defence minister said these foreign nations were envious\nbecause Indonesia is rich. They therefore think about how to steal that\nwealth. \u201cIf possible, Indonesia breaks apart,\u201d Prabowo said.<\/p>\n<p>For that reason, Prabowo said a great nation is one that is united.\nHe said this lesson can be seen throughout the history of human\ncivilisation. \u201cEspecially its elites, its leaders must be united. They\nmust be sincere about it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Indonesian nation, he argued, must not harbour grudges or become\nfragmented. He said a great nation is not one full of spite, suspicion,\nand self-interest or narrow group interests.<\/p>\n<p>At the event in West Lombok on Friday, Prabowo inaugurated the\nMeninting Dam in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. Through the\noccasion, he also simultaneously inaugurated five dams across three\nother provinces.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo said dam construction requires time, money, and resources.\nThe process, he said, may only be completed after several presidents\ncome and go. \u201cI am grateful that I am the one inaugurating this dam,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The five dams inaugurated by Prabowo were the Meninting Dam in West\nNusa Tenggara, the Keureuto Dam and Rukoh Dam in Aceh, the Jlantah Dam\nin Central Java Province, and the Sidan Dam in Bali. These projects were\nbuilt between 2015 and 2025.<\/p>\n<p>He revealed that the construction of the five dams cost Rp 9.79\ntrillion. \u201cThe five dams we inaugurate today are the nation\u2019s\ninvestment,\u201d Prabowo said.<\/p>",
