President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from Malaysian Prime\nMinister Anwar Ibrahim at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday,\n27 March 2026. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya described the moment\nas a reunion between two old friends.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis afternoon, President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from his\nold friend, who is also the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim,\nat Merdeka Palace, Jakarta,\u201d Teddy said in a written statement on\nFriday.<\/p>\n
According to Teddy, the meeting between the two national leaders took\nplace in a warm atmosphere. While chatting, Teddy said, Prabowo and\nAnwar Ibrahim also exchanged greetings in connection with Eid al-Fitr\n1447 Hijriah.<\/p>\n
In addition, they discussed political dynamics, particularly the war\nbetween the United States and Israel against Iran in the West Asia\nregion. \u201cAnd various strategic issues that are of common concern,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
Teddy said the meeting between Prabowo and Anwar Ibrahim lasted\naround three hours from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. WIB. After the meeting at\nthe palace, Anwar headed directly to Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in\nEast Jakarta to return to Malaysia.<\/p>\n
Teddy stated that Prabowo accompanied Anwar to Halim Airport.\n\u201cPresident Prabowo escorted Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim\u2019s departure in\nthe same car to Halim airport,\u201d said Cabinet Secretary Teddy.<\/p>\n
According to the Presidential Secretariat\u2019s statement, Anwar,\naccompanied by Prabowo, walked towards the vehicle after the meeting at\nMerdeka Palace. The two continued to converse while heading to the\nvehicle as the song Rasa Sayange was played to bid farewell to Anwar\u2019s\ndeparture.<\/p>\n
Not stopping at the vehicle door, Prabowo joined in escorting Prime\nMinister Anwar\u2019s departure from Merdeka Palace by riding in the same\nvehicle. Upon arriving at Halim Perdanakusuma, Anwar was farewelled with\nan honour guard lined along the path to the aircraft stairs.<\/p>\n
Prabowo then bid farewell to Anwar at the aircraft stairs. In\naddition, at the base of the aircraft stairs, several officials were\nseen seeing off Anwar, including Foreign Minister Sugiono, State\nSecretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra\nWijaya.<\/p>\n
From the base of the aircraft stairs, President Prabowo waved his\nhand, which was then reciprocated by Anwar from the front of the\naircraft door as a sign of parting. Around 7:20 p.m. WIB, the aircraft\ncarrying Anwar Ibrahim and his entourage departed, leaving\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n
