Foreign languages must absolutely be mastered,\u201d\nPrabowo said during his speech at the 2026 Annual Session of the MPR and\nthe Joint Session of the DPR-DPD at the parliamentary complex in\nSenayan, Jakarta, on Friday (14\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo said the government will begin foreign language lessons for\nchildren from Year 1 of primary school. The languages to be taught, he\nsaid, are the most important and widely used in various countries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will begin foreign languages for our children starting from\nprimary school. From Year 1, they must begin foreign languages \u2014 the\nmost important languages: English, Mandarin, Arabic, Japanese, Korean,\nSpanish, French,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo argued that foreign languages must be taught from an early\nage because they are easier to master.
