        "content": "<p>President Prabowo Subianto hopes Germany will play an active role in\nfinalising the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic\nPartnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA). The trade agreement between Indonesia\nand the European Union is targeted to come into force on 1 January\n2027.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo conveyed his hope that Germany would help smooth the\nimplementation of IEU-CEPA during a meeting with German President\nFrank-Walter Steinmeier in Jakarta. \u201cWe hope Germany will continue to\nplay an active role in the finalisation process of the internal\nagreement in Europe,\u201d Prabowo said in a joint press statement with\nSteinmeier at Merdeka Palace on Monday, 15 June 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The Gerindra Party chairman expressed hope that IEU-CEPA could soon\nreach a substantive conclusion. He is confident the agreement can\ndeliver concrete benefits for businesses in both Indonesia and\nGermany.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting with Steinmeier, Prabowo also discussed\nstrengthening cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, energy\ntransition, energy security, education, and employment. The partnership\nbetween the two countries, he said, is also carried out through the\nCompetitiveness, Industrial Modernization, and Trade Acceleration (CITA)\nprogramme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe agreed to continue increasing mutually beneficial trade and\ninvestment volumes,\u201d Prabowo stated.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, President Steinmeier said the IEU-CEPA agreement, which\nhas entered the finalisation stage, holds great potential for\nGerman-Indonesian investment. With IEU-CEPA, he said, small and\nmedium-sized enterprises from Germany have greater opportunities to\ninvest in Indonesia. Closer cooperation between the two countries,\nSteinmeier remarked, will benefit each party.<\/p>\n<p>President Steinmeier also highlighted several German companies that\nhave long been present in Indonesia, such as Siemens, Daimler, and\nInfineon. \u201cThis shows that Indonesia is not only an attractive market\nbut also a location for investment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>During this visit, Steinmeier said he also brought a delegation from\nmajor companies. \u201cAnd efforts are being made to open new paths for\nrenewable energy, which can only be pursued together,\u201d he added.<\/p>",
