President Prabowo Subianto emphasised the need for closer\ncoordination between Indonesia and Jordan in responding to the\nhumanitarian crisis in Palestine, particularly in Gaza and the West\nBank. This was conveyed during a bilateral meeting with King Abdullah II\nof Jordan at the Basman Palace in Amman on Wednesday, 25th February.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Prabowo stated that Jordan\u2019s geographical\nlocation, bordering the conflict zone, makes it a strategic partner for\nIndonesia in understanding the developments on the ground. He also\nexpressed his appreciation for the support provided by Jordan.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, thank you very much, Your Majesty, for the offer of good support\nfor our contingent. We hope to establish close coordination and\ncooperation, because you are closest to the problems in Gaza,\u201d said\nPrabowo.<\/p>\n
In addition to Gaza, Indonesia is also paying attention to the\ndynamics in the West Bank. Prabowo expressed concern that the situation\nin the region could potentially affect the various stabilisation and\nhumanitarian efforts being carried out.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very concerned about the problems in the West Bank. We\nbelieve that this could affect the success of anything we are trying to\ndo in Gaza,\u201d Prabowo said.<\/p>\n
He added that Indonesia and Jordan have similar views with several\ncountries in the region in promoting regional stability and conflict\nresolution. Therefore, according to him, communication and coordination\nbetween the two countries\u2019 teams need to be improved so that the\nresponse to developments can be carried out quickly and\nappropriately.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, we want to strengthen and improve this cooperation. I\nthink my team will work very closely with your team so that we are\nalways in a position to fully understand the situation. We know exactly\nwhat will happen,\u201d Prabowo concluded. (E-4)<\/p>\n
