Prabowo faces jail over heroin<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A prosecutor demanded on Monday that the Central
\nJakarta District Court sentence a man to one year in jail for
\npossession of 2.52 grams of heroin.<\/p>\n
Prosecutor Fahrur Rozy told the court, presided over by judge
\nHupojo, that police arrested A.D.A. Prabowo in April this year
\nduring a raid on his home in Kebon Sirih subdistrict, Central
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
The police seized a syringe and a small plastic package
\ncontaining the drug, the prosecutor said.<\/p>\n
\"The defendant has violated Article 22 of Narcotics Law 1997,
\nwhich calls for a maximum sentence of one year in jail,\" Fahrur
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
He said the defendant was guilty of possession of drugs
\nwithout permission from the Minister of Health.<\/p>\n
\"The defendant also failed to prove that the heroin he
\npossessed was for research purposes,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Prabowo admitted his possession of the drug but asked the
\njudges for leniency.<\/p>\n
\"I regret my mistake, your honor. And I request that you lower
\nthe sentence,\" the defendant told the judges.<\/p>\n
Hupojo adjourned the trial until Friday when the verdict will
