JAKARTA - Deputy Agriculture Minister Sudaryono, alias Mas Dar,\nstated that President Prabowo\u2019s distribution of 1,098 cattle for kurban\nhas been a longstanding practice since previous administrations.<\/p>\n
Mas Dar said former President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), who served as\nIndonesia\u2019s seventh president before Prabowo, also provided kurban\nassistance to various regions.<\/p>\n
\u2018That\u2019s not just under President Prabowo; even during previous\nadministrations, President Jokowi also provided cattle assistance to\nmany places \u2013 it\u2019s a common occurrence,\u2019 Sudaryono said after monitoring\nthe kurban ceremony at the Ministry of Agriculture in Jakarta on\nWednesday, 27 May 2026.<\/p>\n
He added that the programme should be well-received as it brings joy\nto communities across the country.<\/p>\n
The kurban assistance is distributed to mosques, villages, and\nIslamic boarding schools nationwide.<\/p>\n
The average weight of the presidential-donated cattle exceeds 800\nkilograms per head.<\/p>\n
A close associate of Prabowo noted that one particular bull required\nspecial handling when unloaded from the truck due to its size.<\/p>\n
\u2018Because it\u2019s so large, special sand was prepared for when it stepped\ndown from the truck. If not handled correctly upon landing, its legs\ncould break from the weight \u2013 it\u2019s that heavy,\u2019 Mas Dar explained.<\/p>\n
He said the presidential kurban programme has revitalised local\nfarmers and boosted morale.<\/p>\n
\u2018The cattle are massive. Some weigh over a tonne, 1.2 tonnes, and the\nrecord is nearly 1.5 tonnes,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Director General of Livestock and Animal Health at the\nMinistry of Agriculture, Agung Suganda, confirmed that presidential\nkurban assistance is distributed annually.<\/p>\n
