President Prabowo Subianto wants to thoroughly investigate the attack\non KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. Prabowo has instructed his\nsubordinates to uncover the intellectual authors behind the attack.<\/p>\n
According to Prabowo, law enforcement must not only target the field\nexecutors who threw acid on Andrie. He has instructed that the figures\nbehind the incident must also be investigated. \u201cWho ordered it, who paid\nfor it (must be revealed),\u201d said Prabowo in a statement released by the\nPresidential Secretariat on Thursday, 19 March 2026.<\/p>\n
Prabowo expressed this stance during a question-and-answer session in\nHambalang, Bogor, West Java, which took place on Wednesday night, 18\nMarch 2026, until Thursday early morning, 19 March 2026. In that\ninterview, Prabowo answered questions from several journalists and\nexperts he invited to his residence.<\/p>\n
The Gerindra Party Chairman stated that law enforcement agencies must\nnot show favouritism towards perpetrators of violence. He said the legal\nprocess must run to completion, including if there is involvement of\nstate apparatus in the attack.<\/p>\n
This former defence minister claimed there would be no impunity for\napparatus who commit violence. \u201cOf course not, there won\u2019t be\n(impunity). I guarantee it,\u201d said the President.<\/p>\n
He will not tolerate any form of violence against citizens, including\ncritical activists. Prabowo conveyed that he was elected by the people\nto defend the people. \u201cBut we must be vigilant, I demand it be\ninvestigated properly. Right down to the actors,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Prabowo also condemned the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. He described\nthe act as barbaric terrorism.<\/p>\n
Previously, two unidentified individuals threw acid at Andrie Yunus\nin the Talang Street area, Salemba, Central Jakarta, on Thursday night,\n12 March 2026. Andrie then received treatment in the Emergency\nDepartment (IGD) of dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) on Friday\nearly morning, 13 March 2026, around 00:00 WIB.<\/p>\n
As a result of the incident, Andrie suffered burns covering 24\npercent of his body. A medical team consisting of six doctors from\nvarious specialisations\u2014ophthalmology, ENT, neurology, orthopaedics,\nthoracic, internal medicine, and dermatology\u2014is now treating Andrie.<\/p>\n
The Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police or Polda Metro Jaya\nidentified the two attackers on Andrie as BHC and MAK. Police displayed\nphotos of both in a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya headquarters,\nSouth Jakarta, on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.<\/p>\n
