Jakarta (ANTARA) - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo\nSubianto concluded his working visit to Cebu, Philippines, bringing\nstrengthened joint commitments from Southeast Asian countries in\naddressing global challenges, particularly in the areas of food and\nenergy resilience.<\/p>\n
Foreign Minister Sugiono, in a press statement in Jakarta on\nSaturday, conveyed that the main issues emerging in various sessions of\nthe 48th ASEAN Summit were Southeast Asia\u2019s collective response to the\nimpacts of the global geopolitical situation, especially the conflict in\nthe Middle East, which also affects the lives of countries in the\nregion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe core is first, ASEAN\u2019s joint response in addressing the\nsituation occurring in the Middle East, which everyone feels, directly\naffecting the lives of countries in the region. Especially in economic\nsectors, particularly in the availability of food and energy,\u201d said\nSugiono.<\/p>\n
According to Sugiono, ASEAN leaders share the same awareness that the\nSoutheast Asian region must become increasingly resilient in facing\nglobal uncertainties. Therefore, strengthening regional cooperation in\nthe food and energy sectors became one of the main focuses of\ndiscussions at the 48th ASEAN Summit.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a growing shared awareness that with the current situation,\na joint initiative is needed to make ASEAN a resilient region,\nespecially in the fields of energy and food,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Sugiono explained that this agenda aligns with the priorities of\nPresident Prabowo Subianto\u2019s administration, which from the outset has\nplaced food resilience and energy resilience as important foundations\nfor national sovereignty and resilience.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian government is also continuously accelerating various\nstrategic programmes to support these goals.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, he conveyed that in the forum, ASEAN leaders also agreed\non several concrete outcomes or deliverables as steps to strengthen\nregional resilience.<\/p>\n
Some of them include the ASEAN Petroleum Security Agreement and\nAPTERR (ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve), which are important\nparts of regional cooperation in the energy and food sectors.<\/p>\n
In addition, current global dynamics show that conflicts occurring in\none region can quickly impact other countries, including those in\nSoutheast Asia.<\/p>\n
