        "content": "<p>President Prabowo Subianto has issued a sharp directive to all\ncabinet members and state institution leaders ahead of Eid 1447 Hijriah.\nThrough State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi, the presidential\noffice has officially distributed a Circular Letter (SE) prohibiting the\norganisation of open house or halalbihalal celebrations conducted\nexcessively or lavishly.<\/p>\n<p>This measure is described as a direct presidential mandate to\nprioritise values of simplicity and social empathy. The government has\nhighlighted the fact that many citizens remain in difficult economic\nconditions and some regions have been affected by natural disasters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have already distributed a circular letter to all ministries and\ninstitutions. We appeal for moderation in organising open house and\nhalalbihalal celebrations,\u201d emphasised Prasetyo Hadi, as reported by\nAntara on Tuesday (17 March).<\/p>\n<p>Prasetyo stressed that public officials must demonstrate high social\nsensitivity. In his view, it is inappropriate for state institutions to\ndisplay festivity that contrasts sharply with the reality of citizens\nstruggling to recover from difficult times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany of our fellow citizens remain in difficult conditions.\nTherefore, we appeal for no excessive displays,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>This policy follows up on President Prabowo\u2019s directive during a full\ncabinet meeting last week. At that time, the head of state requested his\nofficials provide tangible examples to the people.<\/p>\n<p>However, the President also noted that economic activity should\ncontinue and celebrations need not be entirely cancelled, provided they\nremain within reasonable boundaries.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding events at the presidential palace itself, the State\nSecretary has not yet confirmed whether President Prabowo will hold an\nopen house for the general public.<\/p>\n<p>The final decision is said to await evaluation of the national\nsituation closer to the Eid holiday, estimated to fall on 20 March\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>The government hopes that with this circular letter, the Eid 2026\nmomentum will become an occasion for strengthening national solidarity\nwithout highlighting the divide of luxury between state officials and\ncitizens.<\/p>\n<p>The State Secretary stressed that the government will continue to\nprioritise productive and well-targeted spending.<\/p>",
