President Prabowo Subianto arrived at the Java\u2013Bali Sea Crossing\nOperation Monument in Jembrana Regency, Bali, on Tuesday afternoon for\nthe launch and groundbreaking of the 100 GWp Solar Power Plant (PLTS)\nprogramme.<\/p>\n
Based on monitoring of the Presidential Secretariat\u2019s YouTube\nchannel, Prabowo arrived at the location at around 14.30 WIB, wearing a\ncream safari suit.<\/p>\n
A number of state officials accompanied President Prabowo at the\nevent, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga\nHartarto, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming\/Head of the\nInvestment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and CEO of Danantara Rosan\nRoeslani, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia,\nMinister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Minister of Cooperatives\nFerry Juliantono.<\/p>\n
Also present were Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Deputy\nCommander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces General Tandyo Budi\nRevita, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, President\nDirector of PLN Darmawan Prasodjo, President Director of Pertamina Simon\nAloysius Mantiri, and Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster.<\/p>\n
The launch of the 100 gigawatt peak (GWp) solar power plant at the\nJava\u2013Bali Sea Crossing Operation Monument in Gilimanuk is part of the\nNational Priority Work Programme for the Energy and Water Independence\nCluster, which is directed at strengthening national energy independence\nand resilience and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe President has instructed that the construction of 100 GWp of\nsolar power be accelerated and completed by 2029, with electricity cost\nefficiency estimated to reach Rp73.9 trillion per year. In 2026, the\ngovernment is targeting the construction of 30 GWp of solar power as\nwell as the retirement of 13 GW of diesel power plants,\u201d said Minister\nof State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi in his statement on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The move was taken considering that Indonesia has a solar energy\npotential of around 3,294 GWp, while installed capacity up to April 2026\nhas only reached around 1.5 GWp.<\/p>\n
The programme will be built in stages, namely phase I of 17 GWp,\nphase II of 18 GWp, and phase III of 30 GWp.<\/p>\n
Throughout 2025, the government has built 15 new renewable energy\nplants, consisting of 12 solar power plants and three micro-hydro power\nplants worth Rp103.3 billion, serving 1,831 households and 131 public\nfacilities.<\/p>\n
In 2026, construction will continue at 39 integrated solar power\nplant locations in underdeveloped, frontier and outermost (3T) regions\nfor 4,259 households worth Rp450.2 billion, and three micro-hydro\nlocations for 464 households worth Rp50.4 billion.<\/p>\n
The village electricity programme has also reached 1,403 locations in\n36 provinces, with 220,845 underprivileged households receiving benefits\nfrom the New Electricity Installation Assistance scheme.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe 100 GWp solar power programme is also projected to become a new\nengine of economic growth through investment in generation, batteries\nand networks, strengthening the domestic solar PV industry, and creating\ngreen jobs. The 2025\u20132034 Electricity Supply Business Plan is projected\nto create around 1.7 million jobs, more than 760,000 of which could\npotentially become green jobs,\u201d said Prasetyo.<\/p>\n
