        "content": "<p>President Prabowo Subianto accompanied Indian Prime Minister Narendra\nModi on his inaugural visit to the Prambanan Temple Complex on Wednesday\n(8\/7\/2026). The visit signalled the commencement of a collaboration\nbetween Indonesia and India to revitalise the largest Hindu temple in\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo and Narendra Modi arrived at the Prambanan Temple area at\napproximately 11.45 WIB. The arrival of the two leaders was greeted by a\ntraditional Ramayana dance performance accompanied by gamelan music as\npart of the official welcoming ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The series of activities continued with a presentation on the\nconservation project for the UNESCO World Heritage site and the\ninauguration of a cooperation inscription. Afterwards, Prabowo and Modi\ncaptured the moment through a joint photo session, symbolising the close\ncultural ties between Indonesia and India.<\/p>\n<p>During the visit, Prabowo and Narendra Modi also toured the temple\ncomplex using a boogie car. Both visited several structures within the\nPrambanan complex, including the Nandi and Siswa temples, while\nlistening to explanations about the history and significance of the\narea. While at the Shiva Temple, Narendra Modi also participated in a\nShinta Pooja prayer procession.<\/p>\n<p>The visit, themed \u2018World Leaders Journey\u2019, also marked the\nachievement of an agreement between the two countries to implement a\nrevitalisation programme for the Prambanan Temple Complex. The agreement\nwill be realised through a partnership titled \u2018Indonesia-India\nCollaborative Cultural Heritage Conservation\u2019. The long-term restoration\nprogramme is scheduled to last for a decade, from 2026 to 2036, focusing\non the restoration of more than 200 perwara temples in the second\ncourtyard, most of which currently remain in ruins.<\/p>\n<p>Through this collaboration, Indonesia and India are targeting\nimprovements in the physical conservation quality of the site,\nstrengthening of scientific documentation, enhancement of cultural\nheritage area management, development of cultural cooperation, and the\nexchange of knowledge and expertise in archaeology between the two\ncountries.<\/p>",
