The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian\nYuliarto, stated that President Prabowo Subianto has issued directives\nto design an educational model that supports the rehabilitation of drug\naddicts, including those of a young age.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we conveyed earlier is how to develop an educational and\nrehabilitation concept that can truly produce individuals\u2014young\npeople\u2014who can recover and subsequently become productive,\u201d said\nMinister Brian following a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace\nComplex, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 29 September 2026.<\/p>\n
He noted that the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and\nTechnology (Kemendiktisaintek) will discuss appropriate concepts and\nmethods in collaboration with universities, particularly academics from\nmedical and psychology faculties who have long been involved in drug\nrehabilitation efforts.<\/p>\n
Highlighting experiences presented by researchers, hospital\nrepresentatives, and university delegates, he noted that the\nrehabilitation process to free individuals from drug dependency now\nfrequently involves the use of technology and educational models\ndeveloped by various higher education institutions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will utilise and formulate all the best practices already\ndeveloped by campuses and universities, so that the rehabilitation\nprocess for drug users, especially teenagers and young people, can be\nensured to effectively resolve their issues,\u201d Brian explained.<\/p>\n
The President also discussed similar practices implemented by several\noverseas universities during the meeting. This comes amidst ongoing\nchallenges regarding access to illicit substances targeting Indonesia\u2019s\nyounger generation.<\/p>\n
The meeting also addressed the utilisation of university research\nfindings to support drug handling efforts.<\/p>\n
He stated that research results developed in higher education will be\nsynergised with the needs of the National Narcotics Board (BNN) and the\nMinistry of Health, including for therapeutic purposes.<\/p>\n
