President Prabowo Subianto accepted an invitation from President\nDonald Trump to attend the Board of Peace (BoP) meeting to discuss the\nPalestine issue. Prabowo also had other agenda items to address with\nTrump.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs you know, I am here at the invitation of the President of the\nUnited States for a very important meeting of the Board of Peace. This\nis the first official meeting of the board, which was established to\noversee the implementation and sustainability of the ceasefire in Gaza.\nWe are striving to continue paving the way towards a real and lasting\nsolution to the Palestine issue,\u201d Prabowo said at the Business Summit at\nthe US Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC, United States, on Wednesday\n(18\/2\/2026) local time.<\/p>\n
In addition, Prabowo revealed another item on his agenda with Trump \u2014\nconcluding trade tariff negotiations between the two countries. He\nassessed that such an agreement holds strategic significance for the\nbusiness community and investors in both nations, and indeed across the\nwider Pacific region.<\/p>\n
\u201cFurthermore, I am here to finalise a major trade agreement between\nour two countries. I believe this is an agreement that carries great\nsignificance for our businesses and investors, both in our two countries\nand across the wider Pacific region. It sends a clear signal that\nIndonesia and the United States choose to continue and deepen economic\ncooperation, stronger market access, and greater certainty for the\nbusiness community,\u201d Prabowo said.<\/p>\n
Prabowo also highlighted the importance of certainty for the business\ncommunity. Drawing on his background as a businessman before entering\npolitics, Prabowo said he understands the needs and concerns of business\nleaders. As such, he stated that Indonesia is seeking serious long-term\npartners who are prepared to work together to grow the economy.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor business leaders, certainty is extremely important. Before I\nentered politics, I was also a businessman. That is why I think I can\nunderstand the business community with greater empathy. We are looking\nfor serious long-term partners \u2014 partners who are willing to work with\nus, grow the economy together, reap mutual benefits, and deliver\nreciprocal advantages,\u201d Prabowo continued.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Prabowo expressed his hope that Indonesia can find\npartners willing to engage in the nation\u2019s modernisation and\nindustrialisation agenda.<\/p>\n
