        "content": "<p>President Prabowo Subianto delivered a speech at the closing of the\nScience, Technology, and Industry Convention in Jakarta on Sunday, 28\nJune 2026. During his address to the thousands of lecturers in\nattendance, Prabowo declared that his speaking session was closed to\njournalists.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo initially spoke for around 20 minutes whilst reporters were\nstill in the room. He opened his speech by discussing various government\npolicies and his hopes for the academic world.<\/p>\n<p>After completing the initial part of his speech, Prabowo was informed\nby one of his assistants that journalists were still present. The former\nDefence Minister then asked the journalists to leave the hall before\ncontinuing his address. The Gerindra Party chairman invited the\nreporters to have coffee outside. \u2018Respectfully, I invite the\njournalists to have coffee,\u2019 Prabowo said.<\/p>\n<p>The Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) attended by\nPrabowo took place from Friday to Sunday, 26-28 June 2026. The President\nattended both the opening and closing of the event, which invited 2,600\nlecturers, including professors, deans, and rectors.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, during the opening of KSTI 2026, Prabowo presented\nmaterial for nearly five hours to the academics. The briefing was\ndelivered openly starting around 4 p.m. WIB at the Jakarta Convention\nCenter. After speaking for 30 minutes, Prabowo also asked journalists to\nleave the room and continued his speech behind closed doors.\n\u2018Respectfully, I invite the journalists to have coffee outside, I am\nsure Mr Brian (Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology\nBrian Yuliarto) has prepared some excellent coffee,\u2019 Prabowo said on\nFriday.<\/p>\n<p>The Gerindra Party chairman said he wanted to speak frankly with the\nacademics present and did not want the session to be covered by the\nmedia. \u2018Journalists, with all due respect, members of the media, today I\nwant to speak from the heart to the professors,\u2019 he stated. Prabowo said\nhe would provide the participants with the data and facts at his\ndisposal.<\/p>\n<p>The forum titled \u2018National Gathering\u2019 attended by Prabowo is part of\nthe Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention. The event\nwas organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and\nTechnology.
